If you’ve spent enough time in the firearms training world, you’ve heard the term “Training Scars”. These are habits you build on the range that are based on bad, outdated or insufficient information. These habits can lead to disaster if they find their way into a real defensive shooting encounter.
Training scars can be insidious in that many times they don’t seem important or aren’t noticed until a mistake happens and someone who isn’t supposed to get hurt becomes our object lesson. Keeping an eye out for these pitfalls is critically important when we are training.
